ABOUT US
OUR STORY
I am Sándor Papp the owner of PAPP’S DIAMOND Basset Hound Kennel. Me and my family live together with our dogs in a quiet garden city of Debrecen. I have loved animals since I was a child. Unfortunately, as a child, I couldn’t have my own dog as I grew up in a small apartment, but I had a parrot, a goldfish, a cat. My big dream, owning a dog, was given only as an adult. My first dog breed was St. Bernard. I was very proud when my dogs were successful at shows. At that time I got acquainted with the world of exhibitions. After losing my St. Bernard dogs, I switched to my other favorite breed, the Basset Hound. Bassets soon became our kids’ favourites. We became the “lovers” of the breed. At that point I decided I was going to deal with breeding. We established our kennel and got into the mysteries of breeding so we could bring joy to others with our puppies.
WHY BASSET HOUND?
Everybody thinks of Basset Hound as a sad-looking little thing. This breed, on the other hand, is quite clownish, funny, playful in nature. As a father of three, it was very important to me to have a child-friendly dog and to know that every member of my family is safe near our pets. It’s typically the kind that bears well when children “skin” it. So it is a perfect choice for families with children. Known by many as a lazy dog, he is indeed able to sleep through most of the day, but he does require movement as a hunting dog.
OUR GOAL
Our main goal is to breed healthy, good looking and successful dogs in our kennel. It is not our intention to mass-produce the breed. The dogs live with us and are fully family members. Only dogs that have the characteristics of the breed, are strong and have a good state of health are taken into breeding. We strive to create the best we can, so our future goal is to breed and raise successful show and breeding dogs. We try to find an ideal owner for each puppy, who can be well socialized and grow up in a familiar environment.
